Actuarial Profession

To be a fully qualified actuary, a candidate has to take on examination of an appropriate institute of actuaries (e.g. Institute and Faculty of Actuaries in UK or Society of Actuaries/Casualty Actuarial Society in USA). In India, it is Institute of Actuaries of India (IAI). The institute conducts examination and awards Associateship and Fellowship on successful completion of certain examinations, attending certain professionalism seminars and meeting experience requirements.

As per today’s requirements, the fellowship programme of IAI and Institute and Faculties of Actuaries (IFoA), UK include 9 core technical series subjects including business awareness module, three subjects of core applications, two papers of special technicals (to be chosen out of 9 options)and one subject of special applications (to be chosen from six alternative subjects).

The fellowship program of Institute of Actuaries of India (IAI) is on the line of that of Institute and Faculties of Actuaries (IFoA), UK. All of India, South Africa and Australia follow UK pattern.

However, the patterns followed by Society of Actuaries (SOA, USA) and Casualty Actuaries Society (CAS, USA) have a slightly different structure. Their fellowship program requires passing of Exams P, FM, M and C; satisfying Validation by Educational Experience for three subjects: Economics, Corporate Finance and Applied Statistics, Passing of Course 5 through Course 8, complete Associateship Professionalism Course (APC) and Professional Development Component (PD).

We are proud to announce THREE more Actuaries (qualified in the second half of 2017) from amongst our alumni:
