Shri Mukund Govind Diwan, Chairman

 

Born on the 14th November 1931, Shri Mukund Diwan took his formal education in Mumbai. He obtained a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics and Master's degree in Statistics from the University of Mumbai. He became a fellow of Institute of Actuaries in 1958. Shri Mukund Diwan happens to be son of legendary actuary Professor G. S. Diwan who taught Mathematics and Actuarial Science in Elphinstone College and Sydenham College and attracted many youngsters to take on Actuarial career and guided them to reach their goal.

Shri M. G. Diwan served the life insurance industry till he retired as Chairman of LIC in 1991. Since then, he is involved in actuarial consultancy. All along his career, Shri Diwan has involved himself in academic work and contributed to training activities of Actuarial Society of India, Insurance Institute of India and the National Insurance Academy. Shri Diwan has also headed each of these institutions some time.

As a partner in M/s. K. A. Pandit, actuaries and consultants, Shri M. G. Diwan is actively involved in consulting activies.

Shri Diwan along with Professor Rajendra Shah founded DS Actuarial Education Services Private Limited (DSACTED) to make his dream of spreading and promoting actuarial and insurance education come true. At, DSACTED, Shri Diwan is also a lead faculty for ST and SA level subjects.

Our team is fully committed to the objective of spreading knowledge of insurance and actuarial science as far wide as possible. We will like to extend our efforts beyond the frontiers of India to SAARC region as also in the Afro-Asian region in the course of time. We invite all interested to join as Faculty or as students in the various courses we launch no bars of religion, caste, gender or country.

 

 

Professor Rajendra Shah, Managing Director:

Prof. Rajendra Shah has a Master's degree in Statistics from University of Mumbai and professional qualification in general management, financial management and computer management. He remained a topper in all these qualifying examinations.

Prof. Shah has a rich experience of over 40 years in academics. He started his career as a lecturer and took voluntary retirement as the Principal of a multi-faculty college. During this phase, he worked on several bodies and committees of University of Mumbai. Prof. Shah chaired Boards of Studies in Statistics, Business Mathematics and Business Statistics and Computer Programming. He was also a member of Academic Council, Faculty of Arts, Faculty of Science, Faculty of Commerce and several selection committees of thirty colleges at different times for selection of faculties in various subjects.

Prof. Shah has eighteen text-book titles to his credit on the subjects of Statistics, Business Mathematics and Business Statistics, Economics, Computer Programming and Operations Research. He has earned a name for himself as an excellent faculty in the subjects of Actuarial Science, Financial Economics, Enterprise Risk Management, Statistics, Business Mathematics, Business Statistics, Computer Programming, Biostatistics and Operations Research. Prof. Shah delivered lectures in Life Contingencies in Sri Lanka and Bangladesh in 2013 on special invitation from ACTUARIES WITHOUT BORDER, a part of International Actuarial Association.

Prof. Shah is the architect of MentorTM series of educational software, which is true trendsetter software with many firsts.

In 2001, Prof. Shah accepted the mission of promoting actuarial education and made headway by launching a formal rigorous program in the form of Post Graduate Diploma in Actuarial Science at NMIMS Deemed University in 2003. Thereafter, he along with Shri M. G. Diwan founded DS Actuarial Education Services Private Limited (DSACTED). At DSACTED, they are now offering B. Sc. and M. Sc. degree programs in Actuarial Science. These are the most in-depth programs in respective segments in Asia.
